Grandfather (Papa), Red Rocks Hiker, Part Time Sedonan
Investment Manager / President
Payne Wealth Partners
601 N Cross Pointe Blvd.
Taylor’s strong background in finance and his even stronger desire to help others came to a crossroads in 1989 when he started his own business, Payne Wealth Partners, with the expressed interest of assisting those with a high net worth to plan and invest their wealth appropriately.
A Columbia, Mo., native, Taylor graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with a major in accounting, from the University of Missouri in 1975. He worked at the CPA firm Deloitte and Touche in St. Louis and later as vice president of finance at Black Beauty Coal before making the life-changing decision to start his own business.
Taylor started the company by going down a very non-traditional route: Looking at planning and investing from a client’s perspective. He spent the early years trying to convince the marketplace that Payne Wealth Partners was worth hiring, that a true fiduciary planning function along with investment management was vital to the client. The hard work has paid off.
“Today people are searching for the experienced financial planner who serves as a fiduciary, putting the client’s best interests first 100% of the time,” Taylor said.
As investment manager of Payne Wealth Partners, Taylor works with a client to create and follow through on an investment policy that meets the client’s goals. He monitors specific areas of investment markets and relays information to the investment committee and helps determine strategic and tactical changes.
Taylor received his Certified Public Accountant certification in 1979 and his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 1991. He has also earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation, which indicates expertise in the personal financial planning area of the public accounting profession. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Indiana Society of CPAs (INCPA), and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).
Taylor’s desire to help others isn’t limited to his client base — he has been involved in many organizations in the Evansville community including the boards of the Ronald McDonald House of the Ohio Valley and Evansville Country Club. He is a past member of the Evansville City Council and of the Area Planning Commission.
Taylor and wife Jenny are the parents of two daughters, Sarah and Laura, and three sons, Andrew, Ethan and Alex. In addition to spending time with his family, Taylor enjoys golf, hiking and reading.
“Saturday morning golf, grilling out on our Big Green Egg, spending time with wife Jenny, family and friends. What Jenny and I really love is the beauty of nature, so our family vacations often find us hiking trails in Sedona, Arizona or at national parks (Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Glacier, etc.)”
“Crying like a baby at each of my daughter’s weddings. So much for the strong, stoic image!”
“Taylor has great vision and it’s not just with investing. His vision reaches to every facet and every detail of Payne Wealth Partners. When I joined this firm, I joined because of Taylor. He is always forward thinking and that helped me make one of the best decisions of my life.”
