Bethany’s personality and passion for assisting led her to Payne Wealth Partners in 2010. Bethany thrives in her position as a result of her passion for building strong relationships with the clients and her enthusiasm to take on new responsibilities. As an Investment Manager, Bethany combines her skill in research analytics with her passion of helping clients apply that research to their specific situation.
When Bethany was an undergraduate at Ball State University, she worked on an honor’s research fellowship and a senior thesis project that instilled in her a skill and passion for research and analysis in the financial world. Not long after graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance in 2010, Bethany started at Payne Wealth Partners and has earned through the years her position of Investment Manager.
In the summer of 2015, Bethany earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. This designation, one of the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world, represents a tradition of upholding high standards of education and integrity in the investment profession. The charter is recognized globally by employers, investment professionals, and investors as a definitive standard by which to measure the competence, integrity, and dedication of serious investment professionals.
Recipients of the CFA charter have successfully completed the CFA Program, a graduate-level, self-study curriculum and a series of three intensive examinations taken sequentially, which, in total, takes most candidates between two and five years. Candidate surveys report that preparation for the three exams typically requires at least 900 combined hours of study.
Bethany assists with investment-specific research, developing the firm’s asset allocation strategies and placing trades in clients’ portfolios. Bethany excels in building relationships with the clients, resulting in understanding their situation and financial goals more thoroughly.
At Payne Wealth Partners, the Business Development, Investment Management, Wealth Planning and Client Services divisions all work hand-in-hand for each client, and Bethany fits right in. “Coming from a big family has helped me understand the team concept; how each team member’s role fits together to get from Point A to Point B,” said Bethany, an Evansville native. Bethany is one of six members of the firm’s Investment Committee, which must come to an agreement that a move is in the client’s best interest.
Bethany and her husband Nick spend a lot of time volunteering at Gethsemane Church, the church they both grew up in. She is a pianist and singer there, and they assist with the church youth and in neighborhood outreach programs, including collecting turkeys for the Tri-State Food Bank. Bethany enjoys running, and just completed her 2nd half-marathon and Olympic Triathlon.
“…it usually revolves around spending time with my husband, Nick, and seeing our extended family—I come from a big family so there’s usually plenty of weddings, graduations, and birthday parties to give us the excuse to get together. Other than that, my favorite weekends would include a great game of Ultimate Frisbee with friends or a run/bike ride on a sunny day.
Oh and I love to travel! When family and church events aren’t in the equation, weekend trips are a must.”
“…one weekend during my sophomore year of college, I was planning to attend the wedding of a friend of mine. It was one of those days when everything seemed to go wrong…my replacement at work was running late so I wasn’t able to leave on time, a rain storm ensued as I walked a mile to where my car was parked in the student parking lot, I couldn’t find the church and was sweating bullets as I drove in circles and asked strangers for directions. Needless to say, by the time I pulled into the church parking lot, I felt like I had just accomplished some big feat. Once my euphoria for having finally arrived wore off, I noticed that parking lot was empty except for a young boy tossing a football. He informed me that the wedding wasn’t until the next day. Drenched from the rain and exhausted, I drove back to the dorms feeling so silly. On the bright side, I knew where the church was for the wedding the following day.”
“Bethany plays a vital role on our investment team, and she continues to help improve the efficiency of our investment processes. She is extremely personable, smart, solution-oriented, and motivated which are attributes that help her excel. I think our clients enjoy working with her for those reasons.”
