Lavonne “Pepper” Paire-Davis died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the age of 88. She left a wonderful legacy as a star in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League that was formed during the war years of the 1940’s. The character played by Geena Davis in the hit movie “A League of Their Own” (filmed at Evansville’s own Bosse Field) was modeled after her.
She left an equally important legacy of two sons, a daughter and four grandchildren. One of her sons is quoted as “she taught me how to switch hit when I was 3 years old.” Her full obituary can be seen at http://www.tributes.com/obituary/read/Lavonne-Pepper-Paire-Davis-95198308
Everyone has something important to pass on to those who come after, in work, community, family and faith. So the question is, “What will your legacy be?”
