Stop and Smell the Roses: A Great Life

Stop and Smell the Roses: A Great Life

Many of us get caught up in the hustle bustle of life, summer, and back-to-school preparations. Can you relate? Do you catch yourself thinking “If I can only get _____ done, then I’ll be able to slow down and relax”? We all have different items that fill in that blank whether personal, professional, or financial. The thinking pattern is quite common and downright human. How can we get past these seeming obstacles that stand between us and our one great life and what does this have to do with finances? Quite a lot, actually.

Our financial planning team have widened the scope of how we have traditionally advised on our clients financial lives. The financial advice industry as a whole still often misses the point of true advice and pigeon holes the conversation around portfolio, alpha, beta, beating the benchmark, etc. Is performance important? Absolutely. Does focusing only on portfolio details solve the race of life we get caught up in? Hardly. As a CFA® charterholder, I’m wildly familiar with the complexities of portfolio construction details, but can that be delivered without dominating the advice conversation to the exclusion of real, life-changing planning conversations? I believe the answer is a resounding “yes”!

Our financial planning resources are designed to help people organize their efforts toward their entire life. Many of the hang-ups we face, whether weight loss, clutter, busyness, and many frustrations, connect to our finances even though we often consider these challenges non-financial. Our financial planning team is motivated to look beneath the surface and find ways for clients to lead their best lives. The financial planning resources are designed specifically to uncover these opportunities and refocus attention on items that are meaningful to living your best life.

My tips for taking charge of your summer:

  1. Identify if there are things hanging over your head and keeping you from enjoying your summer and life.
  2. Know that you’re worthy of enjoying the life you envision having.
  3. Ask for help if you feel clueless on how to achieve the outcome you want; seek guidance or advice.

If you have questions or want to dig deeper on this idea, our team is always happy to help. If you ask yourself “are there fiduciary advisers near me?” please reach out and we’d be happy to point you toward financial planning resources near you. We are rooting for you (and us) to get out there, smell the roses, and enjoy this amazing life!
