As the old saying goes, the only thing that people hate more than change is for things to stay the same. I believe this is also true for the investment world. There has been a drastic increase in the pace of change in technological advancements and product choices in the investment world over the past five years. It’s exciting and truly amazing to see how these changes impact our clients. While there are some who might be resistant to change (investors and advisors alike), our firm culture is one that looks ahead to evaluate which changes benefit our clients and which do not. It is an important area to research and thoroughly understand before jumping into the “new, hot offering.” We don’t take lightly this responsibility of deeply understanding these advances nor undervalue the trust our clients place in us to research new tools. Our passion is to bring cutting-edge technology, cost savings, and strategy to our clients while remaining focused on unique, personal goals.
Thus, when we see technological improvements, increasing investment selections, and the big changes in our industry, we applaud these rather than resist them. We adjust and then roll up our sleeves as we jump into our robust research process of identifying actual improvements from the crowd of new ideas.
So how does this affect you?
New and changing technology is now more robust than ever. Not only can you do things like budget, track transactions, etc., you now have the options to see in-depth, detailed information on your entire financial life. Many people (typically the Baby Boomer generation) feel that they don’t need to/can’t learn how to use the latest technology, but in reality, it is very user friendly. Instead of butting heads with new technology and innovations, it’s important for you to take maximum advantage of these tools and use it to help guide your financial future.
While the use and innovation of technology is important, having a personal relationship with a knowledgeable team is equally, if not more, critical to reaching your future financial goals.
